ASC Leader to Know: Steve Corl of Mackinaw Surgery Center
Part of that successful management includes maintaining effective communications throughout the surgery center. Mackinaw Surgery Center holds weekly nursing meetings to address pressing staff issues or concerns. "As issues and concerns were followed up on and resolved, the staff could decide to have the meetings less often," Mr. Corl says. Mr. Corl is also a strong proponent of employee recognition and individual check-ins between managers and employees.
Mr. Corl has also helped the surgery center achieve a 95 percent patient satisfaction rating and full accreditation by CMS and the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program. In addition to his administrative duties at Mackinaw Surgery Center, Mr. Corl also serves as second vice president of the Michigan Ambulatory Surgery Association.
