ASC Industry Leader to Know: Nader J. Samii of National Medical Billing Services

Nader J. Samii is the CEO of National Medical Billing Services, a healthcare revenue cycle outsourcing company focused on the ambulatory surgery center market.

Prior to joining NMBS, Mr. Samii was the co-founder and president of Ajuba International, a healthcare revenue cycle outsourcing company that launched in 2001 and grew to approximately 2,000 employees by 2009. Mr. Samii previously served as an investment banker at both Merrill Lynch and Dillon Read & Co. (now UBS Securities) and also served as a corporate finance attorney in the law firm of Dykema Gossett. He received his bachelor's degree in finance and economics from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., and a dual JD/MBA degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Mr. Samii discussed the core principals of building a successful ambulatory surgery center business in Becker's ASC Review. It is important to establish a strong foundation for daily processes, he said. "You have to have very strong processes that are standardized and repeatable, which allows you to do business — the key is to focus on standardized processes so quality doesn't suffer as you continue to grow," he said, adding that ASCs must embrace technology as an aid to business growth. "Companies need to get away from the old mindsets and use technology to their advantage."
