Physicians: 8 most important qualities in an insurer

Here are the eight qualities that physicians believe are most important in an insurer, according to the Medscape Insurer Ratings Report 2014.

When asked to rate what qualities they believe are most important in an insurer on a scale of one to five, physicians reported:

 

•    Reimbursement rate — 4.7
•    Ease of doing business — 4.4
•    Frequency of denials — 4.4
•    Willingness to reevaluate denied claims — 4.3
•    Speed of claims payment/reimbursement — 4.3
•    Accuracy and speed of responses to questions — 4.2
•    Precertification and preapproval requirements — 4
•    Rating system transparency — 3.8

 

More than 6,300 physicians across 25 specialties took part in the online survey from July through September.
