Oregon price transparency bill dies in the Senate

Oregon Senate Bill 891 would have mandated the state's hospitals to post common procedure prices by health insurer, but the bill has died in the Senate, according to a report by The Lund Report.

The bill's chief sponsor was Senator Elizabeth Steiner Hayward (D-Portland). The bill faced staunch opposition from the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems.

The hospital organization supports a less radical price transparency bill, SB 900.
