Obama focuses on healthcare during farewell speech, doesn't mention ACA by name: 4 things to know

During his goodbye speech on Jan. 10, 2017, President Barack Obama spoke about various healthcare improvements such as the nation's diminishing uninsured rate, according to MedPage Today.

Here are four things to know:

1. Despite the president focusing on healthcare, he did not specifically name his signature health law, the ACA.

2. During his speech, President Obama highlighted the U.S. uninsured rates which he remarked "has never, ever been lower."

3. President Obama also said healthcare costs are rising slower than they have in the past five decades.

4. Regarding an alternative health plan, President Obama said if legislators can present a plan that is "demonstrably better than the improvements we've made to our healthcare system," he will publicly support the plan. He went on to say, "Because that, after all, is why we serve. Not to score points or get credit, but to make people's lives better."
