To spend more time with patients, more healthcare providers are using direct-pay healthcare, according to USA Today.
Here are five observations:
1. Seven percent of physicians run a direct-pay practice, as reported in a Physicians' Foundation 2014 survey, according to USA Today.
2. The survey found another 13 percent of physicians plan to transition to some type of direct-pay model.
3. Through direct-pay, many physicians say they have more time available for patients after hours.
4. Critics of direct-pay claim it will increase medical costs for patients.
5. With the direct-fee model, physicians can eliminate paperwork, thus saving a substantial amount of time.
