Latest payer ACA departures further limit consumers' options — 5 takeaways

Customers may struggle to find coverage on the Affordable Care Act exchange in 2017, according to Bloomberg.

Here are five takeaways:

1. In 2017, an Avalere study found 36 percent of the approximately 500 U.S. regions may only have one health insurance company offering coverage.

2. The survey also found another 19 percent of the regions may have two carriers.

3. This year, nearly 66 percent of U.S. regions had three or more insurers offering coverage.

4. Leading payers Aetna, Humana and UnitedHealth are pulling out of many ACA exchanges next year.

5. A HHS spokesperson said the report is "premature and incomplete."
