ICD-10 update: 40% of providers have yet to perform impact assessment

The ICD-10 compliance date has officially been set at Oct. 1, 2015. How prepare are healthcare industry stakeholders? Here are 10 statistics from the latest Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange survey, according to an iHealthBeat report.

Providers
•    Approximately 50 percent have completed impact assessments
•    40 percent are unsure when they will complete impact assessments or if they will complete them at all
•    35 percent have begun external testing
•    More than 50 percent do not plan to being external testing before 2015

Vendors
•    10 percent are at most halfway done with ICD-10 product development
•    66 percent already have updated software available
•    25 percent will not have updated software available until 2015

Payers
•    Nearly 75 percent of payers have completed impact assessments
•    More than 50 percent of payers have begun external testing
•    75 percent of payers have begun internal testing
