Coalition for ICD-10 supported ICD-10 and its important to the healthcare industry in a statement, according to RevCycle Intelligence.
Here are five things to know:
1. In the statement, the Coalition states patients will receive better quality care and more efficient healthcare administrative processes through accurate, updated diagnostic and procedural data.
2. The Coalition has previously claimed a safe harbor for ICD-10 would be "dangerous" for physicians. Additionally, the organization was not in favor of any further delays.
3. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services commented on its blog that it will take a couple of weeks before the organization has a complete assessment of the ICD-10 implementation as many providers have not filed claims on the same day a medical service is provided.
4. The CMS plans to have a more accurate picture of the ICD-10 implementation after the completion of a full billing cycle.
5. The CMS will address issues through the ICD-10 Coordination Center.
