Humana leaving the individual market, never returning — 5 insights

Humana CEO Bruce Broussard said the payer would stick with its decision to withdraw from the health insurance exchanges despite what happens with the ACA, Reuters reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. Mr. Broussard said the company would exit the exchanges this year and never re-enter.

2. He said to Reuters, "This is just not a business that we will be good at."

3. Mr. Broussard said Humana is the best at managing Medicare Advantage plans.

4. Mr. Broussard said despite the efforts of several national politicians, Humana would not re-enter the exchanges.

5. Humana announced its decision to leave the exchanges in February.
