Healthcare leaders pausing MACRA initiatives, survey finds: 5 things to know

Many healthcare executives are pausing preparations for CMS' Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 as the industry awaits the Trump administration's healthcare plans, healthcare informatics reports.

HealthCatalyst/Peer60 conducted a survey finding many healthcare executives do not have a plan in place for MACRA.

Here are five things to know:

1. Thirty-five percent of hospital executives said they are prepared for MACRA and have a strategy in place at their respective organizations.

2. Many reported halting their initiatives for a variety of reasons such as complexity, how new the final rule is and healthcare uncertainty.

3. Executives cited the work associated with tracking and compiling MACRA measures as their primary concern for MACRA participation.

5. The survey found the second most pressing concern was "adjusting to greater coordination between providers and patients."
