Healthcare access improving in the United States: 4 things to know

The 2014 National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Report shows the rate of uninsured in the United States has decreased from a high in 2010, reports The Journal of the American Medical Association.

Here are four things to know:

1. The uninsured rate in the second quarter of 2014 among those under 65 decreased to 15.6 percent from 22.3 percent in 2010.

2. The uninsured rate for black individuals decreased from 24.6 percent in the last quarter of 2013 to 15.9 percent in the first half of 2014.

3. The uninsured rate also declined for white and Hispanic people.

4. Disparities between ethnic/racial groups remained although uninsured decreased.
