GOP governors aim to keep ACA Medicaid expansion: 5 key notes

Several Republican governors are drafting a compromise plan asking their peers in Congress to preserve the ACA's Medicaid expansion, Bloomberg reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. Gov. John Kasich, R-Ohio, and Gov. Scott Walker, R-Wis., are leading the draft legislation. Gov. Gary Herbert, R-Utah, Gov. Doug Ducey, R-Ariz., and Gov. Bill Haslam, R-Tenn., support the draft legislation, Bloomberg reports.

2. The governors presented the proposal at their winter meeting in Washington, D.C on Feb. 27, 2018.

3. Gov. Haslam said at a press conference, "What we're trying to do is have everybody be on the same page with something that'll actually pass and work in the states."

4. A Republican Governors Association spokesperson did not comment to Bloomberg.

5. Political analysts say Republican legislators have differing opinions on Medicaid expansion, with some wanting the ACA's expansion rolled back, and others wanting it to remain.
