Florida Blue, Baptist Health partner for myBlue plan — 5 components

Florida Blue, Florida's Blue Cross and Blue Shield plan, and Baptist Health South Florida, a network of seven hospitals and about 50 outpatient and urgent care facilities, collaborated to push the success of myBlue, a low cost plan serving South Florida's community.

Here are five components:

1. myBlue is a health maintenance organization plan intended for consumers under the age of 65 years, who are eligible for federal subsidies on the marketplace.

2. The health plan covers checkups, serious illnesses and prescription drugs, among other services.

3. Each myBlue plan member will have a myBlue primary care physician who coordinates the patient's care with Baptist Health's specialists.

4. Members in Miami-Dade and Broward counties may use the Baptist Health hospitals and facilities.

5. Residents in 10 Florida counties can choose the plan.

"Whether preventative or routine care, or treating a chronic condition, we must engage everyone involved in managing a patient's care," said Penny Shaffer, market president, Florida Blue. "Florida Blue is deeply committed to innovation and collaboration on the journey to improving healthcare outcomes and access, and to lowering costs."
