Dual-coding is a major concern for medical professionals — 5 notes

Merge Healthcare, provider of enterprise imaging, interoperability and clinic systems, polled 50 customers to determine how worried they were about the upcoming ICD-10 transition.

Here are five notes:

1. Of the respondents, nearly half were more than 80 percent ready for the coding transition.

2. Another 40 percent were 50 to 80 percent ready.

3. A mere 10 percent were less than 50 percent ready.

4. None of the  respondents thought it was likely another delay would be implemented.

5. The main concern among respondents was the period following the switch when they would have to use both code sets for billing.
