The Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment Program in New York aims to change the way Medicaid patients are cared for and physicians are compensated, according to a report by The New York Times.
The program aims to create a continuum of care and drive down costs through population health management, like many other accountable care organizations running across the country. Initially, physicians will be paid in the traditional fee-for-service model, but the plan is to eventually transition to value-based payments.
