Columnist: Health industry lobbies to keep ACA customers — 4 takeaways

Bruce Japsen, a Forbes contributor, wrote that healthcare lobbies are in the midst of launching campaigns "to save patients from the ranks of the uninsured," after President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

Here's what you should know.

1. The American Medical Association and the American Hospital Association are attempting to keep the 20 million who gained coverage through the ACA insured.

2. Mr. Trump is open to the idea of allowing those who have coverage through the ACA to keep their coverage regardless of the future of the ACA, Mr. Japsen wrote.

3. AHA Chief Executive Richard Pollack sent two letters to Mr. Trump about various issues; included in one of those letters was a plea to allow those who gained coverage to keep their coverage in the future.

4. Healthcare experts have argued an immediate repeal of the ACA would be chaotic, and is arguing for a transition plan before taking action.
