CBO: Updated AHCA truncates federal deficit by $150B — 6 takeaways

Congressional Budget Office released an updated report on the American Health Care Act's impact after legislators made a series of amendments to increase the law's likelihood to pass.

Here are six takeaways:

1. The health law would lower the federal deficit by $150 billion over a 10-period.

2. CBO's previous report which analyzed the AHCA before the provisions found the law would yield savings of $880 billion by 2026.

3. In 2018 and 2019, the average premium for individuals in the nongroup market would be between 15 percent and 20 percent higher.

4. The report found the average premium for these holders will be nearly 10 percent lower by 2026 than current prices under the ACA.

5. By 2018, 14 million more Americans will lose coverage under the AHCA.

6. By 2020, this figure is set to reach 21 million and 24 million in 2026.
