Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware Funds Program That Provides Ambulatory Surgery to Low-Income Patients

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware has awarded a $15,000 grant to Volunteer Ambulatory Surgical Access Program, a Dover-based organization that helps low-income patients receive free ambulatory surgery, according to a news release.

The grant proceeds will be used to help eligible patients receive free, outpatient, ambulatory and elective surgeries, according to the report. Since BCBSD began its Blueprints for the Community program in 2007, Delaware non-profit organizations have received nearly $2.3 million in grant funding from the insurer.
