Aetna sued by institutional shareholder over ACA pullout — 3 key notes

An institutional shareholder is suing Aetna for breach of fiduciary duties after the payer withdrew from 11 ACA exchanges, The Hartford Courant reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. The Allegheny County Employees' Retirement Fund filed the lawsuit against Aetna in a Pennsylvania court this week.

2. The group claimed Aetna lied about why it withdrew from the exchange. The group alleges Aetna withdrew from the exchanges to "punish government regulators who rejected [Aetna's] proposed merger with Humana."

3. Aetna declined to comment on the lawsuit to the Courant.
