ACA enrollment defies the odds, numbers continue to rise: 4 points

Despite concerns over ACA enrollment numbers dropping with escalating premiums, enrollment continues to increase, according to MedPage Today.

Here are four points:

1. Compared to this time last year, there has been an increase of 250,000 customers in the ACA marketplaces.

2. Thus far, 12.2 million Americans have bought coverage through a marketplace.

3. Of the enrollees, more than 80 percent will receive advance premium tax credits, which total $4,600 annually, on average.

4. Numbers were up on a national scale, but some states had dwindling enrollment totals. In Louisiana, the number of enrollees fell 22 percent year-over-year. However, Utah had a 20 percent increase in enrollment figures.
