The American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians is providing pain physicians a manuscript for the impending IC-10 transition.
Here are four things to know:
1. Through several topical manuscripts, ASIPP aims to help pain physicians through the complicated coding transition.
2. The new coding system in the United States will expand the number of codes to 144,000 and will include a procedural coding system.
3. Interventional pain physicians will include numerous coding changes. ASIPP's manuscript will describe codes relevant to pain physicians that they will use on a day-to-day basis.
4. Recent estimates project it will take physicians an extra 10 minutes per visit to get enter the new codes correctly.
