200k+ people sign up for health insurance in Washington — 5 highlights

During the open enrollment period, more than 200,000 Washington residents signed up for health insurance, according to The News Tribune.

Here are five highlights:

1. This number may not include individuals who attempted to sign up but were turned away due to a computer shutdown during open enrollment's final weekend.

2. People who could not sign up due to computer problems are advised to contact Washington Healthplanfinder. They may be given extra time to complete their applications.

3. After payers have ample time to bill the last people that signed up for coverage and the computer issues are resolved, officials will tally the final enrollment figures.

4. The number of sign-ups surpassed the open enrollment goal by 35,000 people.

5. During the 2014 to 2015 period, nearly 155,000 people signed up for health insurance, which is nearly 45,000 less people than those enrolled during the 2015 to 2016 open enrollment period.
