New Surgery Center Benchmarking Data: ASC Quality Collaboration Publishes Quality Report for 1st Quarter of 2011

The Ambulatory Surgery Center Quality Collaboration has published its quality report for the first quarter of 2011.

 

The report features aggregated performance data for six ASC facility-level quality measures developed by the ASCQC and endorsed by the National Quality Forum. They are as follows:

  • Patient fall in the ASC
  • Patient burn
  • Hospital transfer/admission
  • Wrong site, side, patient, procedure, implant
  • Prophylactic IV antibiotic timing
  • Appropriate surgical site hair removal

 

The report includes data from 1,255 ASCs — including 732 multi-specialty ASCs and 523 single-specialty ASCs. All states are represented except Vermont and West Virginia.

The following organizations collected and submitted clinical quality data reflecting patient admissions from Jan. 1 through March 31: ASC Association; Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America; AmSurg; Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program; Health Inventures; HCA Ambulatory Surgery Division; National Surgical Care (acquired by AmSurg); Nueterra; Surgical Care Affiliates; Symbion and United Surgical Partners International.
