Nevada Senate Approves Bill Requiring Patient Safety Checklists

The Nevada Senate has passed a bill that would require hospitals and other healthcare providers to utilize patient safety checklists, which aim to reduce the incidence of medical errors, according to a Reno Gazette-Journal news report.

Under AB 280, healthcare providers would be required to develop and implement patient safety checklists for various procedures. The safety checklists would also have to undergo annual review. Under the bill, healthcare providers would face administrative sanctions if checklists are not developed or implemented, according to the news report.
