The American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery have released the inaugural standards for their joint accreditation program — the Metabolic Bariatric Surgery and Quality Improvement Program.
The standards are published in a resources document, which also provides guidance for inpatient and outpatient facilities seeking accreditation from the MBSAQIP.
For MBSAQIP accreditation, centers are required to meet seven core standards as well two additional specific standards.
