In a new segment titled "Dear Abbi," The Joint Commission Account Executive, Ambulatory Care Abbinam Alemayehu discusses how fast facilities can expect accreditation after a survey.
Mr. Alemayehu reported The Joint Commission gives facilities 45 days or 60 days to correct requirements for improvements via the Evidence of Standards Compliance process, with organizations submitting the ESCs as soon as all findings are adequately addressed.
He suggested documenting every corrective action the organization takes immediately to make the post-survey process efficient and reviewing the ESC with the AE before submission. When all of the ESCs are accepted, the organization is given an accreditation decision.
