Daniel J. Castillo, MD, is medical director in the division of healthcare quality evaluation at The Joint Commission where he leads clinical, research and patient safety issues within the division. He also works with external stakeholders and national organizations to improve healthcare quality and safety evaluation.
Dr. Castillo has experience as an emergency medicine physician at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Ill., and he has a history of developing strategic solutions to healthcare management issues.
Throughout his career, Dr. Castillo has taught how to apply electronic medical records and computerized physician order entry and implementing clinical protocols. He has also developed a culture of transparency and quality.
Dr. Castillo earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He also has an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in Chicago.
