Delaware Medical Board Sanctions Against Physicians Increased 400%

The number of serious disciplinary actions taken against physicians — including license revocations and suspensions — totaled 22 in 2010, representing a 400 percent increase compared to 2009, according to a News Journal news report.

The dramatic spike in serious sanctions comes soon after the arrest of Earl Bradley, a former pediatrician awaiting sentencing for sexual abuse of girls over a 15-year period, according to the news report. The huge increase in physician sanctions is an improvement for the Delaware medical disciplinary board, which ranked last for physician discipline for three years straight ending in 2005.
