CDC, SIPC Launch Campaign to Raise Awareness About Injection Safety

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Safe Injection Practices Coalition have launched a public health campaign aimed toward raising awareness about safe injection practices among patients and healthcare providers, according to a news release by the CDC.

The One & Only Campaign was started to empower patients to ask questions and re-educate healthcare providers regarding safe injection practices.

More than 125,000 patients in the United States have been notified of potential exposure to hepatitis B and hepatitis C virus and HIB due to unsafe injection practices since 1999. Many of these cases are a result of reusing syringes, which contaminates medication vials or containers that are subsequently used on other patients.
