The Joint Commission released an antimicrobial stewardship toolkit.
The toolkit is free to download. The Joint Commission recently joined the White House effort to reduce antibiotic overuse and feels good antimicrobial stewardship is more important now than ever.
Good antimicrobial stewardship can:
• Prevent multi-drug resistant organism development
• Reduce unnecessary drug use
• Reduce costs associated with broad-spectrum therapies treating healthcare provider-acquired infections
