6 Things to Know About AAAHC Surveys

Here are six things that ambulatory surgery center administrators should know about the survey process for earning accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care:

1. The size and range of services being offered by the organization seeking accreditation is what determines the length of the on-site visit, number of surveyors needed and survey fee.
2. Survey dates are determined by the AAAHC scheduling office.
3. The expertise of the survey team members is matched as closely as possible to the practice specialty of the organization being surveyed.
4. The on-site survey includes a comprehensive compliance assessment of the entire organization with AAAHC Standards, including any separate entities that have a close relationship with the organization seeking accreditation.
5. At the conclusion of the on-site survey, surveyors hold a summation conference where they present their findings to the organizations' representatives.
6. Within one week after the survey, the organization will be contacted by a third party call center to discuss the recent survey experience and provide feedback.
