The rate of ambulatory surgery center admissions experiencing a transfer or admission to a hospital upon discharge from participating ASCs was found to be 1.132 per 1,000 admissions, according to the ASC Quality Collaboration Report: 3rd Quarter 2013.
The third quarter data for 2013 was collected from 1,358 ASCs, including 891 multispecialty ASCs and 467 single specialty ASCs.
The rate of hospital admissions/transfers has increased since the fourth quarter of 2012, where the rate was 1.317 per 1,000 admissions. The rate has increased since the second quarter of 2013, where it was 1.077 per 1,000 admissions, according to the report.
