U.S. Anesthesia Partners names Dr. Richard Dutton chief quality officer: 5 facts

U.S. Anesthesia Partners named Richard Dutton, MD, MBA, its inaugural chief quality officer.

Here are five facts:

1. Dr. Dutton most recently served as the chief quality officer of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the founding executive director of the Anesthesia Quality Institute.

2. He also serves on a number of ASA and federal committees working to develop performance measures for anesthesia.

3. Dr. Dutton earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and an MBA degree from the University of Maryland in Baltimore.

4. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and served as an attending anesthesiologist at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., while on active duty with the United States Navy.

5. USAP is a physician services organization focused providing high quality perioperative and pain management services. It includes more than 1,800 anesthesia providers.
