NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in New York City named Ansgar Brambrink, MD, PhD, anesthesiologist-in-chief, effective July 1.

1. Dr. Brambrink was also named chair of the department of anesthesiology at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons.
2. He specializes in clinical care and anesthesia's educational aspects and applications to treat patients with neurological conditions.
3. His research interests include brain ischemia and anesthesia's effects on the brain.
4. Dr. Brambrink recently served as president of the Society of Neuroscience in Anesthesiology and Critical Care.
5. He has completed a clinical and research fellowship in anesthesiology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
