Mass General Anesthesiologists to Provide Coverage at Martha's Vineyard Hospital

Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine will provide anesthesia coverage for Martha's Vineyard Hospital in Dukes, Mass., according to a Martha's Vineyard Times report.

The agreement, recently signed by Martha's Vineyard officials, will take effect in June. The hospital will add certified registered nurse anesthetists who will be available year-round to assist MGH anesthesiologists. Martha's Vineyard will also implement MGH's electronic scheduling and anesthesia information systems.

Two staff anesthesiologists at Martha's Vineyard will end their contracts with the hospital this spring. Administrators say the switch will allow greater flexibility for Martha's Vineyard Hospital and allow for expansion in elective procedures.
