Law Requires Healthcare Providers to Wear ID Badges During Patient Encounters in Utah, West Virginia

Utah and West Virginia's Governors have signed legislation concerning truth in advertising, which requires that healthcare providers wear ID badges during patient encounters, according to an American Society of Anesthesiologists report.

In both states, the new law requires healthcare providers to wear badges identifying their name and license type when meeting with patients. The law goes into effect Jan. 1, 2015 in Utah and July 1, 2016 in West Virginia.
