In a recent American Society of Anesthesiologist article, Julie Marhalik-Helms discusses anesthesia regulations in various states.
Ms. Marhalik Helms serves as the Senior Director of Quality Improvement for North American Partners in Anesthesia and knows first-hand about staffing anesthesia providers in different states.
"It's logical to assume that regulatory compliance in an ASC or office-based setting is simpler, as the patient population is healthier and the procedures generally less complex," writes Marhalik-Helms. "This is not the case."
Crossing state lines to perform anesthesia procedures requires a careful look at what requirements and regulation that each state has.
