CDC Identifies Contamination in More Medical Products From New England Compounding Center

Rachel Fields -

The CDC and the FDA have identified additional microbial contamination in medical products from the New England Compounding Center, which was linked to a multistate outbreak of fungal meningitis, according to an ASCA report.

The CDC has identified additional microbial contamination in unopened vials of betamethasone, cardioplegia and triamcinolone solutions that were distributed and recalled from NECC.

Clinicians should continue to report infections related to NECC products to FDA's MedWatch and state health departments.
