ASA Launches PPAI Courses for Anesthesiology Certification

The American Society of Anesthesiologists announced that the American Board of Anesthesiology's Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology Program has launched its fourth part, which is titled Practice Performance Assessment and Improvement.

The PPAI courses offered by ASA fulfill the requirements of part four of the Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology Program.

The PPAI performance improvement activity includes perioperative management of patients with coronary artery stents. For this activity, participants are required to collect chart data from at least 20 adult patients with coronary artery stents who meet all of the following characteristics:

•    Had elective non-cardiac surgery
•    Routinely took clopidogrel and aspirin preoperatively
•    Did not undergo a neurosurgical procedure
