American Society of Anesthesiologists Receives Highest Accreditation Status for CME Providers

The American Society of Anesthesiologists has earned the highest accreditation status from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, according to an ASA release.

The elevated status extends ASA's accreditation term from four to six years, making ASA an accredited CME provider until July 31, 2016.

ACCME accredits 689 national CME programs, of which only 24 percent have achieved "accreditation with commendation" status. In July 2010, ACCME granted ASA a four-year accreditation and requested the society submit a progress report in 2011 indicating compliance in a single area of concern. ASA submitted the report in April 2011.
