American Society of Anesthesiologists Present at FDA Workshop on Drug Shortages

The American Society of Anesthesiologists presented before hundreds of providers and healthcare experts at the Food and Drug Administration Workshop on Drug Shortages on Monday, Sept. 27, according to an ASA release.

ASA Vice President for Scientific Affairs Arnold Berry, MD, MPH, and ASA Director of Practice Management, Quality and Regulatory Affairs Jason Byrd, JD, participated on panels during the meeting. The workshop was intended to provide stakeholders with additional information and insights around the causes and impact of drug shortages.

Throughout the day, the shortages of anesthesia and oncology drugs were the most frequently mentioned. Dr. Berry presented the findings of the ASA Drug Shortages survey in his presentation and discussed the additional healthcare costs resulting from drug shortages.
