5 Anesthesiologists Recently Involved in Charitable Work

Here are five anesthesiologists involved in volunteer work and mission trips in the last three months.

Anesthesiologist Vikram Appannagari, MD, of Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso, Ind., traveled to Nicaragua on a volunteer medical mission trip.

American Society of Anesthesiologists announced that three of its members — Ana Crawford, MD, Melanie Gipp, MD, and Christopher Press, MD — at Stanford (Calif.) University School of Medicine are traveling to Rwanda to participate in a teaching program at the two teaching hospitals of the National University of Rwanda.

Armen Chalian, MD, an anesthesiologist at Allied Anesthesia in Santa Ana, Calif., traveled to Armenia as part of a medical mission trip, where he volunteered to provide anesthesia services for pediatric reconstructive surgeries.

North American Partners in Anesthesia announced that affiliated pediatric anesthesiologist Sanjoy Joshi, MD, was part of the medical team that enabled Bilal Sharif, a boy from Afghanistan, to have life-saving surgery.

Ju Kuo Kuang, MD, an anesthesiologist affiliated with Humble (Texas) Surgical Hospital returned from a medical mission trip to Rwanda, where a medical team provided facial reconstruction surgeries for patients in need.
